The school community at Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy, Birmingham is celebrating after its pupils secured exceptional GCSE results this summer.

School staff and parents joined pupils in school as they opened the results that will enable them to progress onto the next stage of their education.

Amongst the school’s many high achievers was Zaynab Shaban who secured the top grade 9 in nine subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and French. Zaynab, who aspires to study Medicine at university, will continue her academic pursuits by studying Biology, Chemistry and French at Handsworth Girls Grammar School. Thanking the school staff, Zaynab said:

“I’m really thankful for the consistent effort from our teachers, providing so much support to us and inspiring us to work hard to achieve our best.”

Rahma Elzokm secured three grade 9s – in English Literature, History and Arabic – five grade 8s and one grade 7. She also aims to pursue a career in medicine after completing her A levels in Biology, Chemistry and History.

Overjoyed with her results, Rahma said:

“I’m so happy – I did so much better than I thought I would do! Thank you to all my teachers and the hard work we and the teachers put in, I am so grateful.”

After making the daily trip from her home in Wolverhampton each day, Maira Ahmed’s dedication paid dividends as she achieved five grade 9s – including in Biology and Chemistry – four grade 8s and one grade 7.

Maira, who will now study Biology and Chemistry A levels at a grammar school in Wolverhampton, said:

“I’m really happy with my results and really happy all my hard work paid off. I’d like to thank everyone who helped me along the way.”
